Why European String Instruments

An exceptional instrument is more than an object. It is an extension of the musician.

At European String Instruments, every instrument is approached from the perspective of a professional musician. We understand the subtle differences in tone, response, balance, projection, and craftsmanship that can transform the playing experience.

Our collection is thoughtfully curated with an emphasis on European craftsmanship, distinctive character, and lasting quality. Rather than simply offering instruments for sale, we strive to connect each musician with an instrument that feels uniquely suited to their sound, technique, and artistic goals.

Musician-Led Expertise
Our selection is guided by decades of professional performance and teaching experience.

Curated Quality
We focus on instruments and bows chosen for their craftsmanship, tonal qualities, playability, and individual character.

A Personal Approach
Choosing an instrument is deeply personal. We take the time to understand the musician behind the music and help make the experience thoughtful, informed, and unhurried.

European Tradition. Modern Service.
We bring the heritage and artistry of European instrument making together with a refined, personal buying experience for today’s musician.

Ervin Luka Sešek | CEO & Founder

European String Instruments was founded with a simple philosophy: choosing an instrument should be a personal experience, not just a transaction.

As an internationally accomplished violinist and violist, Mr. Sešek understands how deeply personal the relationship between a musician and an instrument is. Decades of experience performing throughout Europe and the United States give him a musician’s perspective when helping customers find instruments and bows that suit their technique, sound, playing style, goals, and budget.

At ESI, that experience translates into thoughtful, knowledgeable service. Whether working with a professional musician searching for an exceptional instrument, a teacher helping a student take the next step, or a family navigating their first violin rental, Mr. Sešek believes every customer deserves honest guidance, careful attention, and the time to make the right choice.

European String Instruments is committed to building lasting relationships with musicians, schools, teachers, students, and families. From selecting and renting instruments to upgrades, trade-ins, accessories, and ongoing support, the goal is to become a trusted resource musicians can return to throughout their musical journey.

And when Mr. Sešek isn’t surrounded by violins and violas, there’s a good chance he’s spending time with his two beloved poodles, Gustav Pawhler and Felix Poodlessohn—who may not have developed an ear for fine European instruments just yet, but remain very enthusiastic members of the ESI family.
